Press Release

Seasoned finance executive brings deep experience in scaling operations and driving growth through financial leadership

NEW YORK, June 10, 2025 — Pelago, the leading virtual clinic for substance use management, today announced the appointment of Patrick Leonard as Chief Financial Officer. Patrick joins Pelago with a strong track record of operational and commercial finance leadership across the healthcare, media, and aerospace industries.

Patrick began his career in Lockheed Martin’s competitive finance leadership program, where he gained deep expertise in cost evaluation and financial modeling. He later transitioned into media and healthcare, holding key finance roles at Scripps Networks, Discovery Inc., and most recently, Progyny, where he was instrumental in preparing the company for a successful IPO. At Progyny, he scaled revenue from $230 million to $1.2 billion and led core FP&A initiatives that enhanced financial planning and forecasting capabilities.

“Patrick brings the right blend of financial rigor, strategic thinking, and operational excellence to help us scale Pelago’s impact,” said Yusuf Sherwani, M.D., co-founder and CEO of Pelago. “His experience driving growth in high-performing, mission-driven organizations will be invaluable as we expand access to specialized substance use care and drive more value for our customers, members, and partners.”

Patrick’s leadership extends across workforce planning, financial analytics, and commercial finance. He has built scalable infrastructures, implemented ERP systems, and improved profitability through data-driven analytics. His appointment comes as Pelago continues to deepen partnerships with employers and health plans while accelerating its clinical and economic outcomes.

“I’m thrilled to join Pelago at such a pivotal time,” said Leonard. “There’s a clear opportunity to reimagine substance use care, and I’m excited to help scale a solution that’s proven, accessible, and value-based.”

Patrick holds an MBA from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and a degree in History from Kenyon College.  He brings a strategic mindset honed across complex, high-growth environments and will lead Pelago’s finance and operations teams as the company enters its next phase of growth.
